adored

I recently made a return trip to Wilmington to photograph baby Maddox. He was only a week old... a tiny little package of perfection at only a little over five pounds when I photographed him. I loved this shot in particular, with his tiny little hand wrapped around daddy's finger.

new tunes

I live in a house filled with music. When I married my husband nearly 12 years ago, along with him came his love (and huge collection) of music. Over the years my musical taste expanded (something for which my husband is eternally grateful), and if you walk into our home on any given day, there will most certainly be music playing. Rather than Raffi and The Wiggles, our children have been raised on everything from Emmylou Harris to the Beatles, Pink Floyd to Thelonius Monk. Music is part of who we are.

One evening in December on my way to do some much-dreaded Christmas shopping, I was listening to an NPR broadcast of the best children's music of 2007. Whenever I hear kid's music that is also palatable to adults, my ears perk up. I listened and enjoyed, and then went back to the hustle and bustle of the list of things I needed to do, making a mental note to remember the name of the artist I'd heard. Of course, my memory is that of most mothers of three children: terrible.

So once the insanity of the holidays had died down I did an internet search to see if I could find out who I'd listened to on NPR that night. It took a good 20 minutes or so, but I found him. His name is Dean Jones, and his CD is (so adorably) named "Napper's Delight." Knowing I needed a good new song on my website, I contacted him and am now excited to be using his terrific music on my site.

Please check out his music and share it with your kids - you will be glad you did!
